History
Interpretation Resources was incorporated in 1999 as a result of the ever-increasing need for geomatics expertise in Atlantic Canada. It was also setup to provide young geomatics specialists with highly skilled employment opportunities.

When IR opened, there were four full-time staff members, all of who worked out of the Amherst, NS office. The company's first projects included Target Nova Scotia and the Ambulance Dispatch Roads Database.

Since starting out, IR's project base has expanded greatly to include projects from industry, government, and not-for-profit institutions. IR also develops products for the market. Its first atlas, the Nova Scotia Street and Road Atlas, was published by Nimbus Publishing in 2006. The Halifax Regional Municipality Atlas was published in 2008. The company's services have grown to include a wide range of geomatics capabilities. For more information, see our Projects page.
